With Skype Desktop API’s access to a variety of features going away, if you are using Skype in an environment where you need these features, you may find yourself in trouble come December.

This is an effort to achieve the following:

1) provide audio and video between users.
2) provide IMs between users.
3) provide authorized client access only.
4) provide a reliable and secure IM logging mechanism. The jitsi client and other clients support OTR out-of-the-box. However, it’s quite easy to compile your own Jitsi version and, lucky for us, Jitsi is developed in a modular way, and it is very easy to remove the OTR plugin and recompile. Combining this with a method to restrict which clients can access the server (relying on the Client Control plugin and some crafty use of the client).
