Programming: Why do people use timers to detect mouse movement? You all are lazy…

I began to research a strategy to detect mouse movement globally and started finding all these people (even the untouchable MVPs) recommending that people use a timer and compare where the mouse pointer is, but my opinion is to avoid timers at almost all cost.

Luckily, I had the sense to start looking into creating a mouse hook and finally arrived on this explanation on CodeProject. I haven’t looked into using it yet, but the class most likely uses the LowLevelMouseProc and LowLevelKeyboardProc functions.
