Software: Notepad by Microsoft

That’s right… by Microsoft. Just so you didn’t get confused.

Check out this KB article on time-stamps and notepad. You can insert a timestamp by hitting F5 while typing; but this discusses a feature I didn’t know existed. If you place “.LOG” as the first line of any text file (.txt, .log), when you open the file, Notepad will automatically append the time stamp and a paragraph character.
I use Notepad to do character replacement (NoteTab Light has some advantages over Notepad, like tab and paragraph characters), remove formatting from text, do my daily todos, take down voicemail notes. I couldn’t survive without it. I’m curious where I can fit this trick in.
